We have a team of dedicated doctors led by the best cardiologists in India and our advanced infrastructure supports the complex nature of the cardiac care provided. Experienced doctors combined with advanced diagnostic facilities, care for our patients with compassion and concern. We use new and advanced diagnostic techniques to understand the complexity of disease, injury and congenital (present at birth) or acquired abnormalities.
Our pioneering work for the prevention and treatment of cardiac diseases has led to the achievement of better outcomes and improved quality of life for hundreds of cardiac patients who visit us each year with complex heart problems
The department performs all types of diagnostic and recent therapeutic procedures on adult and pediatric cases, which include:
- Angiography
- Angioplasty
- Intravascular imaging
- Valvuloplasty
- device closure for congenital heart diseases,
- devices for Heart Failure, aneurysm interventions etc.
The Department of Cardiology at Chettinad is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that place it on par with the top hospitals all across the globe.We are well equipped with the advanced Echocardiography machines which are used to regularly perform 3D Echo, 2DE, TDI andstrain imaging and the following tests
- Electrocardiogram (ECG)
- Transthoracic and TranesophagealEchocardiograms (ECHO)
- Cardiac Stress Analysis
- Treadmill Test (TMT)
- Dobutamine Stress Echocardiogram
- 24 hours Holter Monitor
- Tilt Table Test
- CT Coronary Angiogram
- 24 hours Ambulatory BP Monitoring
- Invasive Diagnostics Procedures including Cath Labs
- Intravasular imaging (IVUS), Fractional flow reserve.
- Therapeutic procedures like PTCA/ Valvuloplasty/Pacemaker implantations/Device closures/Aneurysm clipping
Our teaching program is a spectrum of Undergraduates in the form of BSc Echocardiography, BSc Cardiac Technicians, BSc Integrated courses and Postgraduate courses like MSc Echocardiography and Super- specialization in DM Cardiology. Our experienced and knowledgeable Faculty inculcates a sense of hardworking and an inquisitive mind along with imparting a wide and in depth knowledge of the subject.
The D.M. Cardiology program commenced in the year 2013 and offers 2 seats. The syllabus encompasses all the nuances of cardiac care including the latest developments in the field of cardiology.
Daily teaching classes are conducted including Case discussions, Journal club and topic discussions. Postgraduates of MD General Medicine, MD Pulmonology and MD Pharmacology are also a part of our discussions and benefit from a widening of the subject perspective.
The undergraduates and postgraduates are encouraged to conduct research in basic and advanced aspects of Cardiology ably guided by our faculty who have to their name a wide arsenal of papers published in journals of national and international repute. Apart from supporting routine research in the undergraduates and postgraduates, our faculty themselves are involved in cutting edge research in the field of Echocardiography and invasive procedures.
The Department of Cardiology regularly conducts distant outreach programs, camps in various parts of Tamilnadu to provide quality Cardiac diagnosis, care and advanced treatment options to normally inaccessible population. Advanced adult and congenital disease are routinely picked up during such outreach programs who are then benefitted from appropriate and timely interventions, free of cost under the TN CM HIS program.
