Overview:
B. Sc. Nursing is a four-year undergraduate programme focused on developing critical thinking skills, proficiency and values necessary for the practice of professional nursing and midwifery. The programme is streamlined to enable students to address the health needs of the nation, society and individuals. The programme involves classroom study, Simulation learning in the Nursing Labs, Field trips, Projects, Assignments and Clinical learning that enable students to integrate theory and practice. The students are also required to undergo a six-month internship during the final year of their course which facilitates a smooth transition to being a Professional Nurse.
Course outcome:
On completion of B.Sc Nursing program, the graduates will be able to:

i) Age limit:
The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission.
(ii) Qualifying examination:
The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of:

A candidate should have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks taken together in PCB at the qualifying examination (10+2) i.e., (10+2) from recognized Board under AISSE/CBSE/ICSE/SSCE/HSCE or other equivalent Board.

Candidates are also eligible from State Open School recognized by State Government and National Institute of Open School (NIOS) recognized by Central Government having science subjects and English.

For the candidates belonging to SC/ ST or other backward classes, the marks obtained in PCB taken together in qualifying examination shall be 40%.
iii) Medical Fitness:
Every candidate before admission to the course shall submit a certificate of medical fitness from an authorized medical officer that the candidate is physically fit to undergo the academic course. Married candidates can seek admission to the course provided they are medically fit.
(iv) Eligibility Certificate:
Candidates, who have passed any qualifying examination other than the Higher Secondary Course examination conducted by the government of Tamil Nadu, shall obtain an Eligibility Certificate, from Chettinad Academy of Research and Education and produce the same at the time of admission and also remit recognition fee as prescribed.
(v) Equivalency for Foreign Nationals who want to study in India:
For admission to B.Sc.(N) the entry qualification equivalency i.e., 12th standard should be obtained from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
Overview:
This course is designed to assist students in developing expertise and advance competence in practice nursing. It will enable the students to function as nurse specialists, consultants, educators, administrators in a wide variety of professional settings. This programme prepares nursing graduates who are professionally equipped to deal with day-to-day problems within the existing constraints and thus act as an agent of social change. For this programme, the course delivery method involves seminars, lectures, extensive lab and practical work and on-field training.

The candidate should be a Registered Nurse and Registered midwife of equivalence with any State Nursing Registration Council.

The minimum education requirements shall be the passing of B.Sc. Nursing / B.Sc.Hons. Nursing/ Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing with not less than of 55% aggregate marks from an institution that is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council.

5% relaxation of marks for SC/ ST candidates.

Minimum one year of Work experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing.

Minimum one year of Work experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc Nursing.

The candidate shall be medically fit.
