Minimally invasive surgery has been applied to a multitude of benign (non-cancerous) and malignant (oncologic or cancerous) urologic problems. It is done for numerous conditions affecting urologic organs including kidney, adrenal gland, ureter, bladder, prostate, lymph nodes. It is also known as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL), where extracorporeal means from outside the body. A Dornier compact sigma lithotripter is used for extra corporeal lithotripsy at our hospital.
