Importance of Artificial Ventilation in Critical care managementChettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE organized a Guest lecture on “Importance of Artificial Ventilation in Critical care management” on Tuesday (24/05/2022), 10:45 AM to 12:45 PM at skills lab, College Block. Students from BPT 3rd and MPT 1st year attended the guest lecture. Dr. P. Senthil, Professor/Dean i/c and Mr. Omprakash, Research scholar, CSPT, CARE moderated the session. Dr. R. Swaminathan Veerasamy, MBBS, MD (Anaesthesia), PDCC (cardiac Anes.), Deputy Medical Superintendent, CHRI, CARE is the resource person for this session. The session went for 2 hours with presentation of slides and videos, along with it speaker had an live demonstration of ventilator and its operating modes, principles with audiences in the skill lab. The resource person provided a complete concept of ventilator in ICU management. Our students asked questions and clarified certain doubts regarding modes and assisted control in ventilator, and how far it helps the quality of life of a respiratory illness, some clarifications regarding the endotracheal tubes and tracheostomy. Adjuvant therapy and its importance to the artificial ventilated patients like chest physiotherapy, airway clearance techniques are also discussed during the end of the session. National level workshop on Plyometric on Peak performanceChettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE organized the National level workshop on Peak performance for Post graduate and Under graduate students of Physiotherapy. Organizing committee given warm welcome for Resource Person Dr. Vinod Kumar, Associate professor, Dayanda Sagar University, Bangalore. Then, the session started with 1 hr and 30 minutes of theory class. In this session, he covered History of Plyometric training, Plyometric Mechanics, Physiology models, Plyometric program design and conclusion. Session had 20 minutes of tea break. After the tea break, practical session started, which consists of Lateral bounds, Split jump, Box lateral shuffle, Barrier Lateral jump, Lateral shuffle Bosu, Box March Low, Box March Jump, Box Jump, clap push up, plyo push ups knees, depth push up, depth push up feet elevated, Long jumps, Hurdle jumps, Long depth Jumps and Plyometric ladder drills. Students learnt different types of jumps and their application part. They also explored in different exercises of Plyometric. Finally, all the students were satisfied with his session. INTERNATIONAL MOTHER’S DAY 2022We, Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE organized a fit mom campaign on behalf of International mother’s day 2022 in collaboration with Bee health studio, Mint hospital, Dr. Chanda Balaji clinic .This health camp focused on fitness of mothers., i.,e., pregnant women, postnatal mothers, infertility / miscarriage women, menopausal women. This is initiated to help the silent sufferers, who didn’t even come forward and list out the complaints about their health. A proper fitness assessment was taken. The complaints related treatment was given. The session mainly focused on the fitness of abdomen. It is conducted from 07/05/2022 to 12/05/2022 .On Sunday it was conducted from 09.00 am to 1.00 pm. Students from VI semester were participated and provided treatments to the mothers. The mothers who silently suffered from various issues like urinary incontinence, musculoskeletal problems were benefitted through this camp. We also treated infertility women who have poor lower abdominal fitness. Abdominal fitness, a proper counseling was given to them to overcome dyspareunia and to become pregnant. Totally 250 members were benefitted through this camp. At the last day, Dr.P. Senthil., dean i/c, CSPT, CARE , Ms. S.Sujitha, Assistant professor, CSPT, CARE, Ms. Bindhu, Nursing superintendent, Mint Hospital were honored and appreciation certificates were given to the volunteers. SKILLED CLINICAL TRAINING 2022We, Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE organized a skilled clinical training from 06/05/2022 to 13/05/2022 for VI semester students by 09: 30 AM to 12: 30 PM in Respiratory medicine department, CHRI, CARE. The faculty, Department of Respiratory Medicine, CHRI, CARE gave detailed explanation to the topics of chest x- ray, pulmonary function test, bronchoscopy, CT scan in pulmonary, pulmonary assessment, medical management of respiratory conditions, pulmonary rehabilitation. They gave a practical exposure of demonstration techniques to the students. Students got benefitted through this clinical posting. GROUP DISCUSSION - NERVOUS SYSTEMThe Chettinad School of physiotherapy organized a group discussion in ”NERVOUS SYSTEM” among Undergraduate first-year students in demo hall 13 on 02/05/2022 from 9.00 AM to 10.30 AM. MODERATOR BY K. C. GAYATHRI, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, CHETTINAD ACADEMY OF RESEARCH AND EDUCATION. "Group" is a collection of individuals who have regular contact and frequent interaction and who work together to achieve a common set of goals. "Discussion" is the process whereby two or more people exchange information or ideas in a face-to-face situation to achieve a goal. The goal, or end product, may be increased knowledge, agreement leading to action, disagreement leading to competition or resolution, or perhaps only a clearing of the air or a continuation of the status quo. Students were divided into five groups, each group consisting of 7members. Students have discussed the topic of PAIN PATHWAY, CORTICOSPINAL TRACT, BASAL GANGLIA AND ITS FUNCTION, AND TYPES OF SYNAPSE. A group discussion is important in developing the personality of a student. The group discussion helps students to improve behavior traits such as leadership skills, analytical skills, divergent thinking, communication skills, and so on. INTERNATIONAL LABOUR DAY 2022We, Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE organized a ELOCUTION COMPETITION on behalf of the INTERNATIONAL LABOUR DAY 2022 CELEBRATIONS on the topic of CHANGES YET TO BE NEEDED FOR A WORKER at Demo hall 13, ground floor, college block by 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm on 30-04-2022. Ms. S. SUJITHA, Assistant professor, CSPT, CARE was the event co-ordinator. Totally 6 participants and 60 audience. The participants spoke well in adherence to the topic. They were provided with 10 min of total time. Initially by 8 min a warning bell had rung and after 10 min a alarm bell had rung that was the final warning. The participants followed all the rules and regulations. They gave a neat talk. Dr. SHOBA NARAYANAN, Associate professor, FAHS, CARE was the judge for the competition. She briefly explained the piurpose of the event and introduced the participants to the audience. She gave a brief comments and encouraged the participants to do more by appreciating their speech . the judgement was made according to the judgement criteria such as voice ( 2 points ), content( 2 points ), eloquence( 2 points ), body language ( 2 points ), way of expressing the words ( 2 points ). Totally 10 points. The first prize was awarded to Suhasini kalyanaraman, 1st year, B.Sc counseling Psychology and second prize was awarded to Muhil Azhaki, 2nd year, M.Sc Counselling Psychology. PHYSIOTHERAPY HEALTH CAMPThe Chettinad school of physiotherapy and BEE HEALTH STUDIO conducted an outreach health camp for all age groups. Moderator by MS.K.C. GAYATHRI., ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, CHETTINAD SCHOOL OF PHYSIOTHERAPY, CARE. On the 30th of April 2022, Chettinad school of physiotherapy and Bee health studio, Tamil Nadu, organized a physio health camp in the community hall, CHRI, KELAMBAKKAM, TAMILNADU. BPT III and II Years students from Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE participated as a Volunteers in the health camp. The health camp started at 9.00 am, and patients from all age groups started to come to camp. Camp started with monitoring the VITALS, TEMPERATURE SPO2, and BLOOD PRESSURE. From BEE HEALTH STUDIO, Senior physiotherapist, MR. SIVABALAN, MPT (ORTHO) and Ms. Pradeepa in the part of the Physiotherapy health camp. The patient was assessed manually, and they were referred for the exercise in the physiotherapy department. In the camp, students learned the exposure to communicating with geriatric patients. From entering, the students took care of the patient in registration, waiting to visit the general consultation, then to the physio consultation, and then who needed exercise and modalities, were taken to the physiotherapy department for the treatment session. The camp also had FOOT ANALYSIS, in this, the patient was analyzed in that in standing posture, knee alignment posture, squatting posture, walking posture, weight shifting in the knees, and weight transferring in the foot were analyzed. Guest Lecture - Disabilities in Cerebral palsyChettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE organized a Guest lecture on “Disabilities in Cerebral palsy” on Thursday (28/04/2022), 10:45 AM to 12:45 PM at Demo Hall 25, 1st Floor, College Block. Students from BPT 4th and 6th semester attended the guest lecture about “Disabilities in Cerebral Palsy”. Ms. S. Sujitha, Assistant Professor, CSPT, CARE moderated the session. Mr. Jefferson Raj Leckler.,MPT (NEURO), Sheffield Hallam University, UK, Senior Physiotherapist, Vidhya Sagar and Ms.Vijayalakshmi. M.,(PT), MIAP, Senior Physiotherapist, Vidhya Sagar were the resource persons for this session.The session went for 2 hours with presentation of slides and videos, along with it speaker had an active interactive session with audiences. They provided a complete concept of disabilities in CP. They shared their knowledge and explained with some case scenario that they have handled in Vidhya Sagar. They used video- Assisted teaching methodology to explain about various disablements of CP children. They clarified about the evaluation and management of CP. They provided an another view of approach to CP children that we have to concentrate on their functional activities, special education , understanding CP children’s separate world and helping them to improve their quality of life. Our students asked questions and clarified certain doubts regarding deformities and disabilities in CP, and how far it affects the quality of life of a CP children, some clarifications regarding the positioning. Our guest speakers also bought some orthosis that can be used for Cerebral palsy and explained that to the students. At last by 12.45 pm Dr. P. Observation visit to Central Leprosy Teaching and Research InstituteChettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE organized the outreached activity to Central Leprosy Teaching and Research Institute, Chengalpattu. All the students were accompanied by Dr. Subramanian. S, Associate Professor and Mr. Om Prakash, research Scholar for this outreach activity. Initially, we met the Director Dr.S. Elavarasan , he asked us to meet Dr. Vijay Bhagat, deputy Director for the today’s activity. Then, Dr. Vijay Bhagat advised us to assemble all the students in Auditorium and appointed Dr.Shubhangi Baviskar, as coordinator for today’s activity. Dr.Shubhangi Baviskar had taken lecture on Causes, epidemiology, clinical features and Management of Leprosy. It was very informative session on Leprosy. After that, she divided the students into three batches, and allotted moderator for each batch. Moderators had taken their respective students to different places like MCR shoe making area, Physiotherapy department and in Patient and Outpatient ward. Students learnt different types of deformities and their physiotherapy management. They also explored in wax therapy unit and splint areas. Finally, all the students assembled in Auditorium after the rounds of different places. Dr.Shubhangi Baviskar asked about the feedback of today’s session. QUIZ COMPETITION - Hip and Knee complexThe Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE conducted a QUIZ competition for the BPT II and III rd YEAR students on 18/04/2022 from 8.45 am to 10.20 am as part of class activity. A quiz is a game that can also be called a mind sport wherein the players, either as individuals or in teams attempt to answer questions posed to them correctly. Students were divided into 4 groups GROUP A, GROUP B, GROUP C with each group of 11-12 members as a team. The quiz was organized by Dr. P. Senthil, Professor, Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE and coordinated by D. Pooja and Kaviyarasi, BPT II nd Year students. In the topic of Hip and Knee complex - Biomechanics promotes a healthy debate amongst participants to learn from each other Quiz competitions are used in Schools and Universities to aid in language development and particular biomechanics subject areas of study. Quizzes are designed to promote, a fun way to study and in the process help improve one’s general knowledge Quiz competitions enables students to think from different angles or simply ‘to think out of the box. It promotes a healthy debate amongst participants to learn from each other. Quiz competitions even help build the student’s soft skills. SHE PHYSIO-2022, WOMEN IN PHYSIOTHERAPYThe Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE along with IAP- Women Cell (INDIAN ASSOCIATION FOR PHYSIOTHERAPY) organized an Inter-college conference She – Physio Conference 2022 on 17-04-2022. Moderator by Ms. K.C. GAYATHRI, ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, CHETTINAD SCHOOL OF PHYSIOTHERAPY along with 28 BPT and MPT students. On the 17th of April 2022, Chettinad School of physiotherapy as a academic partner with the Organizer - Indian association of physiotherapist (IAP), Women cell, Tamil Nadu, organized a conference with 6 different speakers from different departments. Students from different colleges registered and clinical practitioners also joined this program. The conference started with an Inauguration function, around 9.30 am, the program started with a Welcome Dance by Laksana Praveen kumar, the first year, BPT STUDENT, Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE. After that students received a speech in neonatology, OBG, NEURO, SPORTS, CARDIO from the invited eminent speakers. Followed by the scientific session, students have cultural events like solo dance, group dance, and quiz competitions. In solo dance, Blessy from BPT 1st year and Shanmathi from BPT 2nd year participated. In a group dance by Shanmathi, Manjari, Lakshana, and Blessy have participated and won the second prize. In quiz competitions, students Megitha puja, Vaishnavi, Manjari, and Lavanya participated and completed three rounds out of five rounds. National level Tournament for Men’s and Women’s organized by Tamil Nadu Sports UniversityChettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE joined as the volunteers in the National level Tournament for Men’s and Women’s organized by Tamil Nadu Sports University on 07 and 08 April 2022, Sports University campus, Melagottiyur. Our 6 PG students from Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, Chettinad Academy of Research and Education (CARE) participated more actively in all the sports events for the sports injury physiotherapy management. They got a very good exposure about the immediate acute care in sports injury management for the On – field players and made the players to continue the field event. Mr. T. Alagappan and Ms. Vinotha. D, Sports Physiotherapist from the Sports Medicine Department, CHRI, CARE guided the students to make effective acute sports injury management. Students treated ankle, knee injuries, shoulder injuries and applied the ice massage and crepe bandage for the support. CHETPHYSIOCON 2022Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE organized the National level Conference “CHETPHYSIOCON 2022” on the theme of “Evidence Based Physiotherapy Practice, 06 and 07 April 2022, Venue: Sigapi Achi Auditorium. Dr. P. Senthil, Dean i/c, Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE addressed and welcomed the audience for the session. Dr. Shantha Ravisankar, VC, CARE delivered the inaugural address and graces the occasion. Our Chief Guest Thiru. Premkumar Samuel, Assistant Director of Industries and Commerce, Government of Tamil Nadu given a special address. Followed by the Inaugural address and lamp lightening, the scientific session was started with 05 eminent speakers in varying physiotherapy specialty with the theme of “Evidence Based Physiotherapy Practice”. WE also received more than 50 papers for the Oral/Poster presentation in UG/PG/Research Scholar category. Dr. Subramanian. S, Associate Professor, Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE, Kelambakkam, Chennai delivered the vote of thanks at the end of this session. The primary objective of this conference is to bring the updated and recent evidence based physiotherapy intervention in Orthopaedic, Neurological, Cardio-respiratory, Sports and OBG conditions. RURAL HEALTH CAMP (outreach)Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE organized the rural health camp as Out-reached activity with Sri Ganapathi Sachinanda charitable clinic, Visit on 3/4/2022 in NaduPalani, Kanchipuram district Chennai -624601. Ms.Thamizharasi Manonmani, the senior physiotherapist from SGS Charitable Clinic , Ms. Gayathri. K.C, Assistant Professor, Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE, Kelambakkam, Chennai, BPT 3rd year students Haripriya. D and Saran. K included in the rural health general camp. The rural camp was combined with a general physician, ophthalmologist, gynecologist, physiotherapist, and yoga therapist. Dr.Shivasubramanian MBBS, MD. The medical convenor of Sri Ganapathi sachinanda charitable clinic gave a brief introduction to the rural health camp and its importance. Camp started in the morning at 8.30 am, gradually started with the patient gathering, and treated more than 150 patients. In the Rural health camp, students were involved enthusiastically in assessing the patient, providing physiotherapy treatment, and teaching therapeutic exercises. Patients from different age groups participated in the rural health camp. Patients with neck pain, back pain, knee pain, osteoarthritis, and general exercise. Important to how polite to communicate with the aged patients, and take care from entering the camp and taking them to different departments they need. WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY (WAAD)- ESSAY WRITING COMPETITIONThe Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE conducted an ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION on 02/04/2022 (Saturday) on the behalf of WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY (WAAD) ON 02/04/2022 at the time of 10.30 AM 12.30 pm. The theme of the essay writing competition is “INCLUSIVE QUALITY EDUCATION FOR ALL”. Ms. K. C. Gayathri, Assistant Professor, Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, Chettinad Academy of Resaerch and Education (CARE) coordinated and conducted the competition. World Autism Awareness Day is observed on April 02. The day recognizes and spreads awareness for the rights of people with autism. The condition typically starts during childhood and continues into adulthood. Autism Spectrum Disorder is a developmental disorder characterized by behavioural and communicational affections that impact a person’s ability to navigate social interactions and also cause repetitive and restricted behaviour. Autism is a developmental disorder with symptoms that appear within the first three years of life. Its formal diagnostic name is autism spectrum disorder. The word “spectrum” indicates that autism appears in different forms with varying levels of severity. INNOVATIVE TEACHING – QUIZ COMPETITIONChettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE organized a QUIZ COMPETITION on the topic of Orthosis on Wednesday (30/03/2022), 02:05 PM to 03:10 PM at Demo Hall 3, 1st Floor, College Block. BPT VI semester students were participated in this “QUIZ COMPETITION ON THE TOPIC OF ORTHOSIS”. Mrs. S. Sujitha, Assistant Professor, CSPT, CARE conducted the session. We divided the students into 3 groups . They were allowed to give a unique name to their team. 10 rounds were conducted in the quiz. 1- 4 rounds are preliminary rounds which carries 1 mark questions, 5-7 rounds are harder rounds which carries 2 mark questions, last 8-10 rounds are bonus round which carries 3 mark questions. Passing of questions were also taken place in the quiz which carries half of its original mark. Students were actively participated in quiz competition . On the mark basis, I , II & III positions were selected Team I scored 8 marks, Team II scored 15 marks, Team III scored 21 marks . The winning team i.e., Team III were rewarded with gifts. COMMUNITY-BASED AWARENESS CAMPThe Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE along with NSS Team, CARE jointly organized a community-based awareness camp in PUDUPAKKAM village on 30/3/2022 from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM. MODERATOR BY K.C.GAYATHRI ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, CHETTINAD ACADEMY OF RESEARCH AND EDUCATION. One of the parts of the national service scheme NSS, every year conducting the health camp. Students who were enrolled in the NSS, Voluntary participate in the awareness camp. Students were divided into 3 groups each group was issued a pamphlet to the public regarding the awareness of COVID booster dose. Students have received a new exploration of rural people and explained the importance of a booster dose of COVID vaccination. Two Days Workshop on ‘FIRST AID - A BASIC LIFE-SAVING SKILLS’A two-day hands on workshop on ‘First aid - A basic life-saving skills’ was organized by Chettinad School of Pharmaceutical Sciences (CSPS) in collaboration with Chettinad College of Nursing (CCN), Chettinad Academy of Research and Education (CARE) on 18th and 19th March 2022. The first day of the workshop was initiated by a welcome note by Prof. Dr. Hepsibah Sharmil, Principal, Chettinad College of Nursing followed by Dr.K.Lakshmi, Dean i/c, Chettinad School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. First Session was delivered by Mr. Venkatesan A, HOD of Medical Surgical Nursing, CCN on the basic first aid aspects such as CPR, first aid for chocking, types of wounds and bleeding and first aid box. Second Session was delivered by Ms. Grace Pal, Nursing Tutor, CCN on first aid for burns, snake bites, poisoning, drowning, fainting and unconsciousness. Mr. Arunraj M, Resuscitation and Simulation Educator, CCN gave a detailed lecture on the basic life saving skills for adults, children and infants. On day two of the workshop, all the students were divided into three batches for the hands-on demonstration in the ‘Skills Lab’ located in the second floor. All the students were given hands-on experience on dressing the wound, applying different types of bandages, splinting the injured body part, heimlich maneuvre for chocking, providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and transferring the victim by using mannequines. An active and enthusiatic participation was observed among students and they have gained confidence to meet the emergency situations. About 57 first year B.Pharmacy students participated in this workshop and are highly benefitted. GUEST LECTURE - NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION DAYThe Chettinad school of Physiotherapy conducted a Guest Lecture “Importance of Immunization schedule” on the behalf of National Immunization Day for the BPT FIRST & THIRD YEAR students on 14 MARCH 2022 From 9.00 am to 10.30 pm as part of class activity. CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM - PHYSIOLOGYThe Chettinad School of physiotherapy conducted a QUIZ competition for the FIRST YEAR 09/03/2022 from 8.45 am to 10.20 am as part of class activity. A quiz is a game that can also be called a mind sport wherein the players, either as individuals or in teams attempt to answer questions posed to them correctly. Students were divided into 3 groups GROUP A, GROUP B, GROUP C .Each group with 12 members. The quiz was organized by Afreen Asma and Arulselvi. In the topic of cardiac muscles, the conducting system of the heart, ECG., from the cardiovascular system promotes a healthy debate amongst participants to learn from each other Quiz competitions are used in Schools and Universities to aid in language development and particular subjects areas of study. Chettinad Basketball Premier League 2021Chettinad Basketball Premier League 2021 was held at our Basketball court which started on 30th August 2021. Dr John Antony Prabhakaran of the Department of General Surgery Inaugurated the tournament in presence of Dr Rajesh Kanna, Department of Pathology & Dr Kirubalan, Department of Physical Education. It was held between eight teams of various batches. It was a league tournament where the eight teams were divided into 2 pools with four teams in each pool. Matches were held between teams of each pool and the top two teams were selected for the semifinals. Chettinad Sarvalokaa Forest Education InitiativeIn an initiative to contribute towards a sustainable environment and ecosystem, Chettinad Sarvalokaa Education, international School along with Chettinad Academy of Research & Education conducted a mega sapling plantation initiative on 16.07.2021. The Honorable Chancellor Mrs. Geetha Muthiah planted the first sapling followed by Dr. T. International Yoga Day -2021The international day of yoga (IDY) for the year 2021 was commemorated by NSS and UBA, Chettinad Academy of Research and Education (CARE) on 21.06.2021. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr T Balasubramanian, Vice-Chancellor, CARE. The programme started with an invocation song followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr. Koyeli Girigoswami, NSS, PO and UBA coordinator,CARE. The Chief Guest delivered the inaugural address highlighting the importance of Yoga and the origin of yoga practice. The speech was very motivating for all the participants and after the completion of his speech, a video demonstration of different types of breathing exercises was screened. Myths and Facts about the neurodynamic techniquesThe Chettinad School of Physiotherapy, CARE organized an e-lecture & panel discussion on the theme of ‘Myths and Facts about the neurodynamic techniques’ 31.05.2021 via online Mode. The speaker was Mr A. Mohamed Nainar, senior physiotherapist, PMR, CHRI, CARE. The speaker discussed the Neurodynamic techniques, basic principles and physiological mechanism behind the techniques. After the e-lecture, this was followed by a panel discussion about the myth and fact of the neurodynamic technique with the evidence. CARE - International Women’s Day Commemoration (8 March 2021)

The introductory speech was given by Prof. Dr. Ruckmani, Head, Department of Pharmacology, CHRI who spoke on the history behind the celebration of International Women’s Day and the need for the attitudinal change in both men and women. This was followed by the Inaugural address by our Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Dr. T.Balasubramanian. He reminded us that every religion insists on the importance of women. He also affirmed the fact that behind every man there is a woman and talked about the contributions of Avvaiyar and Mother Teresa. He also lauded the many roles played by a woman from birth. The chief guest appreciated the institute that it has ‘CARE’ in the name. She spoke that it is the responsibility of every person in the society on women empowerment. This was followed by Dr. Merlin, Department of Anesthesiology who spoke on painless delivery. Smt. Geetha Muthiah Labour Analgesia services was then inaugurated by the chief guest. An interesting debate was conducted with two teams of six participants from all the schools and colleges under CARE, who debated on the topic- whether women should change or men should change their attitude to prevent women oppression. Faculty and students from schools of Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute, Dental College, Allied health sciences, Law, Architecture, Physiotherapy and College of nursing attended the event and actively participated in the discussion on women oppression and crime against them. The chief guest concluded that women have a strong role and ability in convincing men to change for women's empowerment. International Women’s day 2021 - Sports TournamentAs part of the International Women’s day, 2021 celebration at Chettinad Academy of Research and Education, the Department of Physical Education conducted a Sports tournament exclusively for all women (students & staff) on 08.03.2021. The tournament comprised of various sports events such as Lucky Corner, Tug of War, Pot hitting, and Ball passing relay. This sports tournament involved female students from all the constituent colleges/schools of CARE, to play as a team. Prof. Dr. Rukmani, HOD, Department of Pharmacology inaugurated the women’s day Sports Tournament. About 350 participants, including students and staff members, took part in the events organized. The winner of Tug of War was a team of students of I year M.Sc Psychology and Runners-up were I year M.Sc students of AHS. The winner of Pot hitting event was Gayathri. R, I year M.Sc Psychology. Lucky corner and Ball pass Relay sports winners were Nursing, Physiotherapy, MBBS, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Architecture, and Faculty of Allied health Sciences students. Dr. T. This event happened in Lecture Hall 1 in the Academic block of our campus and more than 320 female students and faculty attended.This was followed by a PRIDE RIDE Campaign, which is a bike riding event by women that starts from Chennai and Puducherry to cover all districts of Tamil Nadu. Community awareness campAn awareness camp was organized and conducted by the School of Physiotherapy, CARE in collaboration with the Department of Community medicine, CHRI on 20.02.2021. The camp was conducted in the Perungudi area of Chennai. The camp was carried out to create awareness about physiotherapy as one of the treatment modalities for musculoskeletal problems. There was a total of 48 patients who had medical problems such as osteoarthritis knee, frozen shoulder, and neck spasms. Exercises specific to various health conditions were being taught to the patients. They were made aware of other therapies available such as wax therapy, ultrasound therapy, inferential therapy. International Mother Language DayThe Department of Pharmacology, Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute commemorated the International Mother Language Day on 19.02.2021. The event comprised of a Guest lecture and a language translation competition for the students of all the constituent colleges of CARE. The Online Guest lecture was on the topic ‘தாய் மொழியும் தமிழ் மொழியும்’ delivered by Dr.Arasendiran, Retired Professor of Tamil, Madras Christian College. The event was presided by the Vice-Chancellor, CARE and Dean, Chettinad Hospital and Research Institute. Around 150 participants attended the program. The lecture was followed by a group competition on a translation of selected English words. The Moderator was Mr. T. Alagappan, Faculty of CSP, who introduced the resource person. The Resource Person was Mr. D. Kishore Kumar, MPT (Hand), (Ph.D.), Hand Rehabilitation Specialist. The speaker explained in detail the anatomy and biomechanics of the Hand. He also discussed various conditions that affect the hand musculoskeletal system with the appropriate recent rehabilitation measures. The speaker of the event was Shri. T. Ramanan, Technocrat, Cyber Crime Specialist and Leadership Trainer with 28 years experience in Information and Communication Technology Industry. A total of 60 participants attended the program. The resource person insisted on importance of information technology, digitalization, and modern technologies used in the medical field.
