Sports massage, on the other hand, is a targeted massage approach that focuses on specific areas of the body that need healing or relief. Deep tissue massage is often administered as a full body massage, rather than focusing on a specific area of the body. Sports massage is a form of massage involving the manipulation of soft tissue to benefit a person engaged in regular physical activity. Soft tissue is the connective tissue that has not hardened into bone and cartilage; it includes skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia (a form of connective tissue that lines and unsheathes the other soft tissues). Sports massage is designed to assist in correcting problems and imbalances in soft tissue that are caused by repetitive and strenuous physical activity and trauma. The application of sports massage, before and after exercise, may enhance performance, aid recovery and prevent injury. In Ayurveda, the five elements that are found in all living things—space, air, fire, water, and earth—are considered the building blocks of life. These combine to create three mind-body principles, known as doshas, within the body: Vata (air and space), Pitta (fire and water), and Kapha (water and earth). Everyone inherits a unique mix of the three doshas, although one is usually more dominant. Ayurvedic practices balance the doshas to govern one’s physical and emotional health. Nutrition is a critical part of health and development. Better nutrition is related to improved infant, child, and maternal health, stronger immune systems, safer pregnancy and childbirth, lower risk of non-communicable diseases (such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease), and longevity. Healthy children learn better. Students had good exposure to the basics of sports massage, ayurvedic massage, and nutritional concepts. Speaker: 1. Mr. Praveen Kumar.
